Today our school hosted the White Ribbon Assembly aimed at starting a discussion around men’s violence against women and the ways that we as a community can act. We were fortunate to have one of the founders of White Ribbon, Ms Libby Lloyd, speak along with Dr Michael Salter who is currently working on the Violence Prevention Program and men and boys' violence prevention research. Both speakers echoed the same message: that we must look out for one another and not be afraid to call out inequalities and abuse. They also spoke about the underlying inequality of women in all areas, especially the workforce, which perpetuates the power imbalance and, ultimately, situations of domestic violence. We also witnessed 5 Randwick Boys students take the oath to end male violence against women, sending a clear message of support.
